A store for the national park

In June, the resort of Harz will open up for business in Torfhaus, and visitors do not have to walk far for good equipment – thanks to the new Globetrotter store.

The resort of Harz has it all: a four star hotel, 13 wooden lodges, a national park information centre, a restaurant and also its own Globetrotter store. Only  400 square metres large, the sales floor of the »Globetrotter Active Store« is not one tenth the size of a typical store. But the expert advice is as good as usual, which is important to Christian Moog.

The former employee of the Munich store is now the manager in the Harz and explains the strategy of the small but excellent shop which will be opening its doors in June: »We have adjusted our range to suite day tourists and hotel guests who might have brought the wrong jacket or whose shoes got damaged during a hike. We won’t be able to offer the almost 35,000 Globetrotter equipment ideas, but we will always find the right solution for our customer«, says Christian confidently. Four to six full-time sales assistants will be with him in the store.

Depending on the season, there will be more part-time employees. The shop, which is set in the »Harz Welcome Center«, was designed by the architects Moths, Hamburg, Globetrotter’s architects of choice.

The resort of Harz, only ten kilometres off highway 395, offers several leisure time activities in a native natural environment, from cross country skiing to hiking and mountain biking. Information and reservations at www.torfhaus-harzresort.de or by phone: +49 8 00/535 35 00.
